Reawaken The Wild Soul of the Mother
Our souls are shaped and molded by motherhood in beautiful ways; but this shaping also takes place alongside the cultural and religious demands often projected upon mothers. Along the journey of being a mother it is critical to stay attuned to our soul’s deepest longings. It is easy to let this vital act of devotion fall to the wayside. It is even easier to allow cultural and religious demands to define the narrative of what it means to be a human, a woman, and a mother.
But this is not the way of The Magdala Mother.
The wild vitality of a woman’s soul must be fiercely protected above all else, for it is her connection to the erotic, her life force, her truest essence. The wild woman’s soul is the lightning rod through which the Divine reveals herself to us. The Divine moves through our bodies, out into this world, remaking both us and the world into something new.
In order to be connected to this kind of vesseling for the Divine, we must as women and mothers practice acts of resistance against narratives which are not ours to carry. This is hard work. And it is holy. It will put us back in touch with the holiness within ourselves and will allow us to fully live our one “wild and precious life” to its absolute fullest.
