Listening to the Land: Practicing the Art of Silence
The Magdala Mother Believes in the Power of Silence and Solitude
The life of a mother is filled with demands, joy, death, glory, and defeat. In order to ride the waves of motherhood, we believe in a deep commitment to silence and solitude. The Magdala Mother exists to reconnect Mothers to the ground beneath their feet. It is through silence and intimacy with the ground of our deepest knowing, that we are reconnected with Mother Earth herself. We cherish the land as the first “church,” our wild cathedral, and commit to returning to her dirt in silence and reverence as frequently as our lives allow.
As we commit to rebuild our primordial connection with Mother Earth, we trust her silence will begin to speak to us, nourish us, and give us our marching orders as to how we are to hold our post as prophetic mothers; mothers who know how to hold their own ground when the storms around us may blow. We are connected to her roots, her power, and it is from here that we stand with the strength of Magdala, “The Tower.”
